The brother of standout guard Joe Smith, a major player in both of the top Italian leagues whose awards include Second Team All LegaDue for 2006-2007. Recently leading his team to win the Italian Cup as well the Italian LegaDue Championship, Joe played a major part in this year's promotion of Rieti to the Italian A1.

      Like Joe, Jason played at the University of Alabama in Huntsville where they were both named All American Guards.  Jason surpassed all of Joe's records in becoming the school's all time best 3pt shooter, ranking 4th in scoring and 3rd in assists.  

      Joe Smith did not get an opportunity in Europe until Marco Calvani, and Montecatini Terme (LegaDue) discovered him in 2004, 3 years after he graduated from college.  Joe  made an immediate impact in his first fully professional season becoming one of the top players in the Italian A2 with averages of 23 pts and 3 assists    Jason is poised to do the same.
      After visiting Joe several times in Italy, and practicing with his teams, Jason is not the average rookie.  He already understands how to be professional and what it takes to succeed in Europe.   Jason is ready to follow and maybe even outdo his older brother.         GO BACK
