Mike Smith is impossible to defend. He
totes a deadly accurate three point shot from well beyond NBA
range with so much elevation that he doesn't even notice most
defenders. If he does notice, he shoots it even better.
When he's not making threes, Smith drives to the hoop with a
quickness and athleticism that most would think impossible from
someone as tall as his 6 feet and 8 inches.
As well as an absolutely complete offensive
game, Smith helps his teams and tortures opponents with his
merciless defense.
Possessing great defensive anticipation; Smith often steals the
ball from even the most capable ball-handlers. His
athletic ability combined with height and uncanny timing allow
him to block shots with an alarming ferocity.
Consistently leading his teams in rebounding,
Smith was the 15th leading rebounder of the entire NCAA in
2000. An incredible achievement for an outside
player.
With his very rare blend of size, shooting
accuracy, athletic ability and basketball intelligence: Smith
was the first draft pick authorized by Michael Jordan as director
of basketball operations for the Washington Wizards NBA
franchise.
